My horses are always turned out to a very high standard and preparation for this starts the day before when they are bathed and groomed, their legs are washed in soap flakes to make the feather white and fluffy. On the day I wash their legs again to make sure there are no stable marks and their coats are brushed to make them shine. The horses are plaited in the traditional Shire way with flights and braids. The harness is cleaned and the carriage is polished till it gleams.
